FAQs

What is 16mm film?

16mm is real motion picture film, tangible, analog, and light-sensitive. It’s the same format used in vintage documentaries, home movies, and iconic art films. Every frame is exposed by light and etched into celluloid, giving it an organic texture no digital camera can fake.

I shoot exclusively on a Bolex Rex 4, a hand-wound Swiss camera from the 1960s. There’s no autofocus, no endless takes, no playback. Just intuition, intention, and a few hundred feet of film.

Can we book digital + film?

Yes, I please let me know when inquiring that you would like both formats and I will bring on a second shooter to capture digital.

How do you handle audio?

While 16mm film doesn’t record audio natively, we offer separate audio recording for key moments like vows, toasts, or personal readings. These are captured using discreet, high-quality equipment and woven gently into the final film.

Sound is never used just to fill space. If it’s meaningful, we preserve it. If it’s not, we let the images speak for themselves.

Do you travel internationally?

Absolutely. I’m based on O’ahu but happily travel wherever your love story takes you. Travel costs including flights, accommodations, and local transport (like Ubers) are covered by the couple and quoted separately based on your location and wedding dates.

Do we get a digital copy?

Yes. Every film is scanned in high-resolution and delivered as a digital file for easy sharing, archiving, and watching anytime.
